The Solomon Islands Chinese Association (SICA) and its members strongly condemns the killing of two Chinese shop owners during the weekend.

Vice Chairman of the SI Chinese Association David K C Quan says the double murder shocked the community.

“Like so many peace-loving Solomon Islanders, we are shocked and traumatised by the senseless and barbaric killing of a Chinese couple over the Easter Weekend.

“We condemn this double murder in the strongest terms,” he says.

The Association urges the public, including the Chinese community, who might have any information that will assist police in their investigations, to contact Police directly.

“The Chinese Association is confident that police will pull all its available resources together, to solve this horrific crime and bring all those responsible to face the full force of the law.”

Meanwhile Mr Quan says the Chinese Association is very grateful for the RSIPF investigations and people who continue to send their condolences.

“So far, there are many condolence messages to the family, words of support and solidarity from individual members, business houses, including the Solomon Islands Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and many ordinary Solomon Islanders from all walks of life.”

The two Chinese believed to be a husband and wife were found dead in their shop at Town Ground yesterday morning.

The dead bodies were found with stab wounds – killings believed to have occurred during the Easter break.
