POSTMORTEM have been carried out on the bodies of the Asian couple who were found dead in their Town Ground shop on Easter Monday.
Supervising commissioner of police Juanita Matanga says doctors started examining the bodies yesterday.
“At this stage, police are still actively investigating the matter,” Ms Juanita says.
She says the postmortem report should also help police investigations, but strongly re-iterated the call for anyone with information to report to police.
“This is a serious case because it causes fear and anxiety as well as a serious concern to the business community.
“It is therefore important that we assure people and the business community that police are working hard to investigate and to ensure such senseless act never happens again.”
Asked whether police already have any leads, the supervising commissioner says police will not divulge any further information on their investigations.
“We cannot say which particular group we’re looking at or how soon we will make any arrest.
“We can only say we still have no suspects, but we’re working closely with the Chinese Community and the Honiara public to assist police in investigations.”
The Asian couple were believed to have been killed during the Easter Weekend at their Town Ground building opposite the Ministry of Foreign Affairs office.
A security guard alerted police on Easter Monday morning when the shop was not opened and foul odor from the building.
Police entered and found the bodies in a pool of blood with stab wounds.
The two Asians own and run a bottle shop, general store and a restaurant in the building.
