Solomon Airlines has suspended its twice weekly domestic service to Lata, Santa Cruz Temotu Province as of yesterday (Monday 13th March).
Solomon Airlines cited land dispute issues as the reason for the suspension.
However, an airline spokesman says the national carrier apologised unreservedly for the decision.
“We do apologise to our valued clients for any inconvenience the suspension of the Santa Cruz service may incur,” the spokesperson says.
“We do not take these decisions lightly but safety of both passengers and crew remains paramount.
“In the meantime, we would encourage all passengers affected by this situation to stay in touch by calling our dedicated toll free telephone number 177 or our sales office on 20152 or 20031.”
Earlier this year flights to Atoifi in East Kwaio on Malaita Province were temporarily put off while the main Gwaunaru’u airport near Auki on Malaita reopened in 2016 after being closed for nearly six years over a land dispute.
