Hundreds hit the road for Easter fun run

Honiara resident hit the road in a similar event last year

Hundreds of Honiara residents have concluded their Easter celebrations with muscle-flexing when they hit the road for the annual Easter fun run this morning.

The annual Easter Monday event kicked-off at 8am with a 5km walk for those who love to walk while sprinters competed for the top prize of the event with sprinting.

The event attracted children, youths, women, leaders, visiting friends and families, all dressed in uniform to partake.

The route started at Lawson Tama stadium, up the Kolaridge cemetery; down towards the Governor General’s residence, further down to the Kukum market and back to Lawson Tama.

People came out in numbers most of whom wanted to sweat out and enjoy the Easter fun episode. Organised by the Rotary Club, the event has been gaining favour from city (Honiara) residence each year.

Many companies sponsored their staff to take part in the annual fun event. Prizes were also given away today when all who took part assembled at Lawson Tama after the run.
