Western United FC defeated in opener

Auckland City have defeated Western United 2 -1 on the first day of action for Group C in the 2017 OFC Champions League, today.

The game was played at Centre Park, Mangere, Auckland.

Western United (WU) lone goal was scored by James Naka 38 minutes into the first half.

This is the second time WU, who are the Telekom S-league (TSL) runner up, have represented the country (Solomon Islands) at the OFC Champions League.

Marist FC will take on Fiji’s Rewa FC in their opening game tomorrow.

Western United FC and Marist FC represented Solomon Islands at the 2017 OFC Champions League.

Auckland City is the 7th time OFC Champions.
