North East Guadalcanal Member of Parliament and Independent Leader Dr Derek Sikua before moving the Motion of No Confidence this morning asked the Prime Minister to resign on the floor of Parliament.

Dr Sikua says the motion has the support of 27 MPs therefore gave the opportunity for Manasseh Sogavare to resign.

The Prime Minister in his response said the Prime Minister’s post is not like that of a shopkeeper.

“We are talking about the position of the Prime Minister of this nation. It cannot be changed anytime we want to change it,” he says.

He then asked that the motion be debated.

“I want the people of this nation to listen to this motion and hear what really I have done wrong that I should be removed.”

Sogavare then refused to resign.

The Motion is now underway in Parliament.
