The National Parliament of Solomon Islands will resume its first sitting for this year on Wednesday 28 February 2018.
Prime Minister Rick Houenipwela while issuing a letter of notification of commencement of the first meeting to the Governor General (GS) Sir Frank Kabui on Monday 12 said:
“As Prime Minister of Her Majesty’s Government of Solomon Islands, and in the spirit of the Section 32 of the Constitution, I write to advise you of my decision to convene the first meeting of the National Parliament of Solomon Islands for 2018 on Wednesday 28th February, 2018.”
Office of the Prime Minister and Cabinet in a release said, “Following the notification sent to the Government House, the Clerk of Parliament will also be asked to notify all Members of Parliament accordingly pursuant to Standing Order 7(2) of the Standing Orders of the National Parliament.”
PM Houenipwela is currently in Port Moresby (PNG) attending the Melanesian Spearhead Group (MSG) summit.
He will be back into the country Friday 16.
