The Multipurpose Hall Improvement and Development project financially funded by New Zealand Government has received full backing from the Full Council.
In a resolution adopted and passed by the Full Council Assembly yesterday, there will be a creation of a joint account with the New Zealand High Commission office here in Honiara. This is for the purpose of executing and smooth implementation of the project.
Honiara City Council will also contribute towards the project, from half the fees collected at the Multipurpose hall from all the sports activities.
Furthermore, all funds collected from use or hire will go towards the HCC.
The Deputy Prime Minister of New Zealand Paula Bennett and the City Mayor Andrew Mua were the guest during the ground breaking ceremony of the Multi Million dollar project at Multipurpose hall earlier in June.
The project will improve the sporting facilities in the Multi purpose hall and outside courts in the compound.
Meanwhile, construction on the entrance and exit of the compound has already begun.
It is expected that the project will end around December in 2018.
