A Former Vice-Chancellor for the Solomon Islands National University (SINU) Dr Glynn Galo has been appointed to lead Fulton College, Fiji’s Seventh-day Adventist tertiary institution.
Dr Galo held the SINU VC post for four years until his resignation from office following heavy protest by the University students in November last year.
Also previously he held senior positions at Pacific Adventist University (PAU) and the Un…iversity of the South Pacific (USP).
Adventist Record website reported, “People who have worked with Glynn comment on his dedication to God and His mission,” said Pastor Maveni Kaufononga, president of the Seventh-day Adventist Church in the Trans Pacific Union Mission, which oversees Fulton.
“His vast experience in tertiary institutions will be a great asset for us.”
“Dr Galo is a Fulton alumnus himself. A Solomon Islands national, he has lived in Papua New Guinea, Fiji and the UK, where he completed his doctorate in education.
“He also holds a science degree (USP) and a Master of Business Administration (University of Queensland), an eclectic mix of qualifications that will no doubt help him relate to students of various disciplines as well as leading the faculty and staff at Fulton.”
“I am very humbled indeed to accept the appointment as Principal of Fulton College,” said Dr Galo.
“I have so much confidence in the senior officers and support staff of the College.
“Together as a team we will continue the services of the College and complete the good work left behind under the leadership of the former principal, Dr Steve Currow.
“As an academic institution, Fulton College must consolidate, grow and explore other academic areas that it can offer to meet the challenge of preparing graduates for the present and future needs of the Church and the community it serves.
“This to me is the continuous challenge yet a rewarding aspect of the job. With the Lord’s support and guidance, the College will achieve this.”
Dr Galo takes up the principal’s role following the departure of Dr Steve Currow, who is now communication director at the Adventist Church’s South Pacific Division office in Wahroonga, NSW.
