CRU receives POM personal kit from PRT

Honiara Central Response Unit (CRU) officers received additional equipment from Police Response Team (PRT) today, 10 April 2018 at Honiara Central Police Station.

Honiara City Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Chief Superintendent Alfred Uiga, who received the equipment from Sergeant Lionel Kapisa of PRT urged his officers to look after the kits.

PPC Uiga says while addressing his CRU officers: “This equipment is part of protecting gears for the CRU so that it protects you while you execute your duties.”

He adds: “The kits are to boost the CRU capability to effectively operate as trained responsive officers for any public order management (POM) in Honiara.”

“The issue of the POM kits today was done after my CRU officers undergone a rigorous training with PRT in early March this year,” says Chief Superintendent Uiga.

At the same occasion, Sergeant Lionel Kapisa says, “These are additional kits after the uniforms were handed previously to CRU. The RSIPF is fortunate to have these kits which were funded by Solomon Islands Police Development Program (SIPDP) for the specialised tactical trained officers.”

He adds: “The kits also form part of CRU equipped in preparation the National General Election next year (2019).”
